Lorna Young Foundation

Lorna Young Foundation

Overseas, the LYF helps smallholder farmer groups and co-operatives to gain better access to information and expertise, and to improve their livelihoods; supporting them to add value to what they grow and to lift themselves out of poverty.

Our flagship programme is called Farmers’ Voice Radio. In the UK, we work with disadvantaged communities, supporting them to challenge trade injustice and to improve their own employment and life chances by setting up ethical enterprises. This programme is called Not Just Us.

The Lorna Young Foundation has won numerous awards for its work, including the FSI’s ‘Best Small Charity – Big Impact Award’, the Scottish Power Foundation’s ‘Best Education Initiative’ and ‘Community Champion’ Award as well as being a finalist for Bond’s International Development (Small NGO Impact) Award. The Foundation’s approach to governance led to them becoming a finalist in the UK Charity Governance Awards.
